AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men's
basketball player Re'mon Nelson was named the South Carolina
Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of
the Week on Sunday, January 13, 2013.
Nelson finished with a double-double with 23 points and 11
assists in leading USC Aiken to an 82-77 Peach Belt Conference
victory over Montevallo on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Convocation
Center.
Nelson (Columbus, Ohio/Canal Winchester HS) was 8-of-9 from the
field in the Pacer win. He was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the
arc. The senior guard was 4-of-5 at the free throw line in the
Pacer win.
Nelson's 11 assists in the win over Montevallo were just one
away from tying his career-best in the category. The 11 assists
were also just two assists away from tying the all-time single-game
record in program history.
Already USC Aiken's all-time leader in steals, Nelson now
has 401 assists in his Pacer career. He is just 39 assists away
from breaking the all-time school record, which is currently held
by Eric Dugans (1999-2003) at 439.
