Box Score AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team picked up its third Peach Belt Conference victory of the year in a 2-1 road victory over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Cohen (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier HS) guided the Pacer charge in the win with three points on a goal and an assist.
USC Aiken (4-6-1, 3-2-0 PBC) acquired the first goal of the match in the 33rd-minute when Cohen placed the ball just under the crossbar and into the back of the net off a Heaven Tylee (Manassas, Va./Osbourne Park HS) assist.
The score would remain 1-0 in USC Aiken's favor until the 63rd-minute when Aubrey Danielson (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman HS) scored off a Cohen assist.
Five minutes later, Georgia Southwestern (2-6-1, 0-4-0 PBC) cut the Pacer lead in half at 2-1 when Amanda Canganelli scored off a free kick from 25 yards out.
USC Aiken would hold on for the win from there.
The Pacers held a stout 22-4 shot advantage in the match. The Pacers owned a dominating 10-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
The Pacers will next travel to St. Augustine, Fla. for a conference game against Flagler on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
