Box Score AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team collected its first Peach Belt Conference victory of the year in a 3-1 road win over Georgia Southwestern on Saturday afternoon.
Mark Hanlon (Dublin, Ireland/Blackfoot College) led USC Aiken in the win over Georgia Southwestern (1-8-1, 0-4-0 PBC), acquiring three points on a goal and an assist.
USC Aiken (3-2-2, 1-2-0 PBC) started the match off emphatically just 22 seconds into the contest when Hanlon scored off an assist from Jason King (Montego Bay, Jamaica/USC Salkehatchie).
The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Pacers until the 41st-minute when Georgia Southwestern's Jon McVaney scored off an assist from Charlie Curran to even the game at 1-1.
The two teams would remain even until the 82nd-minute when Schevon Joseph (Gouyave, Grenada/T. A. Marryshow CC) scored off a Hanlon throw-in.
Two minutes later, the Pacers added an insurance goal when Mohamed Fall (Dakar, Senegal/USC Salkehatchie) scored at the 83:39 mark.
USC Aiken ended its win over Georgia Southwestern clinging to a 15-6 shot advantage. The Pacers held a 6-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
The Pacers will next begin the month of October by traveling to St. Augustine, Fla. for a 7:30 p.m. match-up with Flagler on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
