Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team rolled to a dominating 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-19) Peach Belt Conference victory over UNC Pembroke on Friday evening at the Convocation Center.
The win over UNC Pembroke (5-10, 0-2 PBC) marked USC Aiken's seventh consecutive victory.
USC Aiken (11-5, 2-0 PBC) closed out the win over UNC Pembroke hitting .360 as a team. The Pacer defense held UNC Pembroke to just .089 hitting as a team.
The Pacers held a 4-2 total team block advantage in the match. Alyssa Johnson (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) led USC Aiken with four blocks.
Shannon Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault HS) was the only Pacer to record double-digit kills in the win over UNC Pembroke, claiming 12. She also had eight digs to just miss on a double-double.
USC Aiken's Samantha Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst HS) obtained a match-high 23 digs.
Sheila Walsh (Fort Mill, S.C./Nation Ford HS) and Ashley Farwell (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville HS) paced the Pacer attack with Walsh ending the match with a team-best 16 assists. Farwell added 10 assists.
Ashley Diedrich (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips HS) obtained a match-high three service aces. She also had nine kills.
Shay Peterson was the top performer for the Braves in their loss to the Pacers. She had 10 kills.
The Pacers will next close out their week with matches against Francis Marion and Clark Atlanta at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Pacers will face Francis Marion at 2 p.m. before playing Clark Atlanta at 6 p.m. Francis Marion and Clark Atlanta will face off against one another at 4 p.m.
