Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Three University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball players recorded a double-double and the Pacers pulled away for a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over rival Augusta State on Tuesday evening at the Convocation Center.
The Pacers have now won six straight matches.
Augusta State (7-6, 0-2 PBC) opened the match by taking a 25-22 win in the first set. It would be all Pacers from there with USC Aiken (10-5, 1-0 PBC) claiming a 25-20 win in the second game to even the match at 1-1.
Behind a .324 hitting performance in the third set, USC Aiken acquired a 25-14 victory in the game to pull out on top 2-1 in the match.
The Pacers closed out their victory with a 25-19 win in the fourth game.
USC Aiken ended the match hitting .183 as a team. Augusta State hit just .084 in the match.
The Pacers held a 6-5 total team block advantage.
USC Aiken's Shannon Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault HS) led all players in the match with 16 kills. She also had 11 digs to claim a double-double.
Ashley Diedrich (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips HS) was the final Pacer with double-digit kills in the match as she ended the match with 13 kills to go along with her 20 digs.
Ashley Farwell (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville HS) was the final Pacer with a double-double in the match. She had a match-high 25 assists to go along with 13 digs.
Five Pacers in total finished with double-digit digs with USC Aiken's Samantha Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst HS) leading all in the match with 26 digs.
Claire Patten (Boulder, Colo./Mercer) was the final Pacer with double-digit digs, ending the match with 12. She led the Pacers with three service aces in the match.
Jenna Keeler was the top performer for August State. Keeler ended her efforts with 11 kills.
The Pacers will next play host to league foe UNC Pembroke at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.
The Pacers will close out their week with matches against Francis Marion and Clark Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Pacers will face Francis Marion at 2 p.m. before playing Clark Atlanta at 6 p.m. Francis Marion and Clark Atlanta will face off against one another at 4 p.m.
