Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2012 season in a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference loss to national No. 6 Young Harris at Frances Wood Wilson Soccer Field.
The match marked the first-ever meeting between USC Aiken (1-1-2, 0-1-0 PBC) and Young Harris (6-0-0, 2-0-0 PBC).
Niall McCabe led Young Harris in its win over the Pacers, scoring a goal and assisting on the two other Mountain Lion tallies.
The two teams entered intermission with the score still knotted at 0-0. Young Harris would score the first goal of the contest in the 55th-minute when Ilija Ilic scored his fourth goal of the year off an assist from McCabe. The Mountain Lions would add another 15 minutes later when McCabe scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from Ilic.
Sajih Daychoum (Rio de Janerio, Brazil/Colegio PH) placed the Pacers back in the contest and cut the lead in half eight minutes later when he scored his first goal of the year off a tremendous through ball from Noel Mais (Atlanta, Ga./Kingston College).
Young Harris would not let the Pacers get any closer though with Khurram Shazad finding the back of the net for the third time this season at the 85:53 mark.
The Mountain Lions owned a slight 16-15 shot advantage in the contest. Young Harris held a 9-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
The Pacers will next commence their 2012 home campaign by welcoming Belmont Abbey to the "Pacer Pit" at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. USC Aiken and Belmont Abbey will be meeting on the pitch for the first time since 2007.
