NORMAN, Okla. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
golf team recently received the Golf Coaches Association of America
(GCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 athletic year.
The award is presented by the Farmers Insurance Group. To be
eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university
must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for
the academic year.
A total of 124 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn
All-Academic Team recognition.
USC Aiken was one of only 14 NCAA Division II teams to garner
All-Academic Team accolades. The Pacers were the only team in the
Peach Belt Conference to obtain the prestigious team academic
award.
USC Aiken as a team in the 2011-12 athletic year finished with a
3.067 team GPA.
The USC Aiken golf team had another strong year in the 2011-12
season.
USC Aiken reached as high as No. 1 nationally during the 2011-12
season. In total, the Pacers finished second or better in five of
their 13 tournaments. The Pacers claimed the team title at
Lander's Bearcat Golf Classic.
USC Aiken's strong campaign led to berths in both the NCAA
South/Southeast Super Regional and the 2012 NCAA Division II
National Championship.
