AIKEN, S.C. – Both the University of South Carolina Aiken
men's and women's tennis teams were ranked nationally
in the final 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division
II tennis rankings.
The USC Aiken men ended the year ranked 38th, while
the USC Aiken women closed out their year with a national ranking
of 48th.
The two teams both end the year nationally-ranked for the first
time since 2008. The Pacer men have now been nationally-ranked in
the final national tally in 10 consecutive seasons.
The Pacer men, who were nationally ranked all year, concluded
their 2012 campaign with a 9-8 record overall. In the incredibly
tough Peach Belt Conference the Pacers were 2-7.
The Pacer men are 10th in the final ITA Southeast
Region rankings. USC Aiken's Guilherme Destefani (Bauru,
Brazil/Colegio Objetivo) is ranked 20th regionally in
singles.
The USC Aiken women's tennis team claimed a program-best
seven wins in Peach Belt Conference action this past year. USC
Aiken was 7-5 in league play in 2012.
The Pacer women closed out their 2012 campaign with a 13-8
record overall.
USC Aiken concluded its record-breaking season ranked eighth in
the final ITA Southeast Region rankings. USC Aiken's Margot
Simon (Nantes, France/St. Joseph de Loquidy) is ranked
16th regionally in singles.
