AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball player
Will Tankersley was named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC
Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on April 29,
2012.
Tankersley led the nationally 17th-ranked Pacers last
week in their important two-game non-conference sweep of
14th-ranked Catawba.
The freshman from Thomson, Ga. finished the two-game sweep of
Catawba hitting a team-best .571 (4-for-7). He owned a slugging
percentage of 1.429 and an on-base percentage of .625.
Tankersley blasted two home runs in the two-game set.
Tankersley was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs in
the first game of the series on Friday, April 27. He belted a
two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning in the
contest.
In the series finale on Saturday, April 28, Tankersley got
things going for the Pacers in their win by hitting a two-run
dinger in the bottom of the first frame. He finished the game with
two RBIs and one run scored.
Tankersley is currently first on the Pacers and second in the
Peach Belt Conference with a .388 batting average. His nine home
runs on the year is tied for third in the PBC.
