AIKEN, S.C. – Five University of South Carolina Aiken pitchers combined to allow Augusta State only three hits in a 7-1 win over the Jaguars on Wednesday evening at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

The five Pacer pitchers fanned 12 Jaguars in addition to allowing the Jaguars just the three hits.

Pacer starting pitcher Tyler Stephan (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) dealt the first five innings to claim his first win of the year. Stephan struck out five Jaguars.

USC Aiken got things rolling in the game by plating three runs in the bottom of the second stanza. The Pacers would add three more in the bottom of the fourth to own a commanding 6-0 lead.

Aranas' tater in the home half of the eighth countered Augusta State's lone run of the game scored in the top of the eighth.

The three-game national top-15 showdown between No. 14 USC Aiken (30-14, 17-10 PBC) and No. 8 Francis Marion (31-13, 17-9 PBC) is now set to begin with a single 7 p.m. contest on Friday, April 20.

The three-game series between the Peach Belt Conference East Division rivals will then close with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21. The first game of the doubleheader on Saturday is slated for 2 p.m.
