AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball player
Nick Aranas was named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC
Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on April 1,
2012.
Nick Aranas led USC Aiken with a .529 batting average (9-for-17)
last week. Aranas concluded USC Aiken's four games last week
with nine RBIs and five runs scored. Aranas owned a slugging
percentage of 1.000 last week. He had an on-base percentage of
.600.
The senior outfielder closed out his four games last week for
USC Aiken with two doubles and two home runs.
Aranas hit .643 (9-for-14) in USC Aiken's three-game
league sweep of Flagler. He owned a slugging percentage of 1.214 in
the series.
The Lexington, S.C. native broke the school single game record
for most RBIs with eight in USC Aiken's second game win over
Flagler. Aranas tied the school single game record with five hits
in the contest.
Aranas claimed seven of his eight RBIs in the game on
back-to-back home runs. Aranas blasted a three-run home run in the
fourth inning of the game before belting a grand slam one inning
later.
Aranas became USC Aiken's all-time leader in hits last
week. He now has 298 hits in his Pacer career. Aranas is also
currently the Pacer all-time leader in doubles and triples.
