Box Score 2 LAURINBURG, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from St. Andrews on Friday afternoon at Knights Field.
USC Aiken (15-9) picked up a 2-1 victory over St. Andrews (8-34) in game one. The Pacers garnered a dominating 13-3 six-inning win in game two.
The Pacers collected both of their runs in the first game in the fourth inning. Nicole Borden led the Pacers in game one, going 2-for-3 at the dish.
India Kornegay (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) claimed the win in the circle for the Pacers in game one. She allowed just four hits. Kornegay fanned 10 in the contest.
In the second game, USC Aiken did most of its damage in the sixth inning with eight runs.
Six Pacers finished with multiple hits in game two with Kayla Denham (Palatka, Fla./Daytona State College) and Lindsey Jones (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta HS) leading the way with three hits.
Four Pacers concluded the second game with two hits with Whitney Clary (Newberry, S.C./Newberry HS), Carly Hudson (Fountain Inn, S.C./St. Joseph's Catholic), Brandy Bossle (North East, Md./Rising Sun HS) and Cortney Sadler (Bradenton, Fla./State College of Fla., Manatee-Sarasota) each claiming two.
Samantha Lemm (Berlin, N.J./Eastern HS) acquired the win in the circle for USC Aiken in game two. She pitched the first five innings.
Kornegay struck out three batters in the sixth to place an exclamation mark on a strong day for the Pacers.
The Pacers will next close out the week with a road doubleheader against Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga. on Sunday, Mar. 25. The first game of the twinbill is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
