AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team split a doubleheader with national No. 23 Flagler on Thursday afternoon at JH Satcher Field.

Flagler (16-5, 1-1 PBC) earned a 2-1 win in game one before USC Aiken (8-4, 1-3 PBC) picked up a thrilling 3-2 game two victory.

In the second game, USC Aiken was down 2-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. The Pacers would claim a wild victory in the game by scoring two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to acquire the 3-2 win.

Flagler out-hit USC Aiken, 6-4, in the second game. No Pacer finished with multiple hits in game two, but Whitney Clary (Newberry, S.C./Newberry HS) did claim a double in the contest.

Lindsey Jones (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta HS) belted a home run to left centerfield for USC Aiken's first run of the second game.

Lauren Bessent and Alona Personius guided the Saints in game two with two hits each.

India Kornegay (8-4) collected the win in the circle in game two for USC Aiken by pitching the seventh inning in relief of starter Samantha Lemm.

Lemm (Berlin, N.J./Eastern HS) fanned three in six innings in the circle.

In the first game, Flagler out-hit the Pacers, 6-2.

Lauren Roudabush of Flagler was the only player on either team in the game to finish with multiple hits, as she had two.

Kayla Denham (Palatka, Fla./Daytona State College) led USC Aiken with a double in the first game.

Kornegay (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) pitched the entire game for the Pacers in game one, striking out 11.

The Pacers will next conclude their home schedule on the week with a doubleheader against Wingate on Saturday, March 3. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

USC Aiken will then close the week on the road at Limestone on Sunday, March 4. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 2 p.m.
