women's basketball players Hannah DeGraffinreed and Kayla
Harris were named to the 2011-12 Peach Belt Conference
Women's Basketball All-Conference First-Team on Tuesday, Feb.
28, 2012.
The announcement was made from the league office. The 2011-12
All-Conference team was selected by the league's head
coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own
players.
Both DeGraffinreed and Harris earned All-Conference plaudits for
the second consecutive season. DeGraffinreed was named to the
All-PBC Second-Team in the 2010-11 season, while Harris was a
Third-Team choice in the 2010-11 Pacer campaign.
One of the most proficient shooters in the Peach Belt
Conference, DeGraffinreed is averaging 12.8 points per game
(seventh in the PBC).
The senior forward shot 57.7 percent (second-best in the PBC)
from the field during the regular season.
DeGraffinreed is currently averaging 12.8 points, 5.8 rebounds,
2.6 assists and 1.3 steals overall per game.
DeGraffinreed has scored in double figures 20 times in the
2011-12 regular season. She has scored over 20 twice.
DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) closed USC
Aiken's home regular season by scoring 23 in a win over Francis
Marion on Feb. 23. The 23 points allowed her to surpass 1,000
points as a Pacer.
She enters the Peach Belt Conference Tournament with 1,011
points in her Pacer career. She is one of just eight in USC
Aiken's NCAA Division II era to score over 1,000 points as a
Pacer.
DeGraffinreed is also in the top-10 in school history in
rebounds (509), assists (172), blocks (56) and minutes played
(2,295).
Harris is currently leading the Pacers with 15.3 points per game
(fourth in the PBC). Harris averaged 15.5 points per game in
conference action this season.
The 2010-11 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year is also
in the top 25 in three other categories in the Peach Belt (free
throw percentage, field goal percentage and rebounds).
The sophomore forward has scored in double figures 21 times
during the 2011-12 season. She has posted eight 20-plus point
games.
Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) closed out her sophomore
regular season by collecting a career-high 27 points to go along
with 10 rebounds in USC Aiken's road win over Flagler on Saturday,
Feb. 25. She also had three steals and two assists.
Harris, who was selected as the Feb. 13 Peach Belt Conference
Player of the Week, in total is averaging 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds
and 2.2 assists per game.
Peach Belt Conference East Division No. 1 seed USC Aiken (23-3,
16-2 PBC) will commence the Peach Belt Conference Tournament in
Columbus, Ga. by playing at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March
1 against Peach Belt Conference West Division No. 4
Montevallo.
The Pacers enter the PBC Tournament having won their last seven
games.
