LILBURN, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
women's basketball team moved up to 13th in the
latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
USC Aiken is one of three Peach Belt Conference teams ranked
currently with Clayton State the highest ranked PBC squad at No. 4.
Lander is presently ranked 18th.
The Pacers were ranked 17th in the preseason USA
Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll. In the first regular
season poll of 2011-12 on Nov. 22, USC Aiken checked in at No. 23.
The Pacers were ranked 21st on Nov. 29. USC Aiken
was ranked 18th in the Dec. 6 poll. In the last
poll of the 2011 portion of the 2011-12 regular season on Dec. 13,
USC Aiken was ranked 16th.
The first poll of 2012 saw the Pacers ranked 14th.
USC Aiken was ranked 13th on Jan. 10 and
11th on Jan. 17. USC Aiken checked in at No. 15
three weeks ago before being ranked 16th two weeks
ago. Last week, the Pacers were ranked 15th.
USC Aiken has been in the top-25 for at least one week in four
of the last five seasons.
The Pacers have now been ranked in 24 straight USA Today/ESPN
Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
USC Aiken enters the upcoming week coming off two huge wins last
week.
The Pacers opened things last week by besting then No. 17
Lander, 65-62, in a battle of top-20 teams on Wednesday, Feb.
8.
USC Aiken (19-3, 12-2 PBC) then avenged one of its two losses in
Peach Belt Conference play with a 58-44 home win over UNC Pembroke
on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The Pacers have two more important Peach Belt Conference East
Division games this week, beginning with a 5:30 p.m. game against
rival Augusta State on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
USC Aiken, which is one game behind Lander (18-4, 13-1 PBC) in
the PBC East Division standings, will then welcome the nationally
18th-ranked Bearcats to the Convocation Center for
another top-20 showdown at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.
18.
The contest will be a part of USC Aiken's Homecoming
celebration.
