Pacers Avenge Earlier Loss to UNCP in 58-44 Home Victory

AIKEN, S.C. – The nationally 15th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team avenged an earlier loss to UNC Pembroke in a 58-44 Peach Belt Conference home win over the Braves on Saturday evening at the Convocation Center.

USC Aiken (19-3, 12-2 PBC) is now a perfect 10-0 at home in the 2011-12 regular season.

Three Pacers finished in double figures in the win over UNC Pembroke (11-11, 8-6 PBC) with Lindsay Sundberg (Mansfield, Conn./E.O. Smith HS) tying her career-high with 17 points. Sundberg finished the first half with 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. She was 6-for-9 from the field in total in the Pacer win.

Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield HS) ended Saturday's win over UNC Pembroke with 13 points and five rebounds. She also had three assists.

Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) was the final Pacer in double figures in the game with 10 points. Tarailo just missed on a double-double as she also corralled a team-best eight rebounds in the contest.

Mia Antoine (Stone Mountain, Ga./Dominion Christian HS) did not score in double figures, but she did dish out a team-high seven assists.

Jazmine Kemp led UNC Pembroke in its loss to the Pacers with 14 points and five rebounds.

USC Aiken concluded the win over UNC Pembroke shooting 36.1 percent (22-for-61) as a team. The Pacer defense held UNC Pembroke to just 31.3 percent (15-for-48) shooting as a squad.

UNC Pembroke did not reach double-digits in the game until there was just under three minutes left in the first half.

In fact, USC Aiken held UNC Pembroke scoreless for a 10-minute stretch in the first half to go up by as many as 17.

The Pacers would lead by as many as 21 in the second half before emerging with the 14-point victory.

USC Aiken will next face off against rival Augusta State in Augusta, Ga. on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
