AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball player Ronald Zimmerman has been tabbed as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week.
The league office made the announcement on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
The weekly honor from the league is the first of Zimmerman's career. He is the first Pacer to garner conference Player of the Week plaudits since Alvin Brown last earned the weekly award on Jan. 17, 2011.
Zimmerman closed out USC Aiken's home victory over Mount Olive on Thursday, Dec. 6 with a career-high 34 points.
Zimmerman (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley HS) was 7-for-12 from beyond the arc in the game. The seven 3-pointers tied a career-high that he originally set in USC Aiken's home win over then 15th-ranked Winston-Salem State on Nov. 19.
Zimmerman, who was 10-for-15 from the field in total, also had five steals and one assist. He was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
The junior guard is currently first in the nation with 5.0 3-pointers made per game.
On the year, Zimmerman is shooting 25-for-49 (51 percent) from beyond the arc.
Zimmerman is currently averaging a team-best and Peach Belt Conference second-best 20.6 points per game.
Zimmerman and USC Aiken will next open Peach Belt Conference play against UNC Pembroke at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Dec. 15. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
