Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team claimed a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-22) Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander on Wednesday evening at the Convocation Center.
Regionally-ranked USC Aiken (18-10, 7-5 PBC) finished its three-set win hitting .238 as a team. The Pacers held Lander (14-14, 6-6 PBC) to just .069 hitting as a team.
USC Aiken owned an 8-4 total team block advantage in the match.
The Pacers started off their sweep of Lander by hitting .400 as a team in the first set en route to a 25-14 game victory. The Pacers would then claim the sweep with a 25-19 win in game two and a 25-22 win in game three.
Shannon Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault HS) led the Pacers in the sweep with a double-double. Byers ended the match with 11 kills and 12 digs.
USC Aiken's Danika Maggard (Maize, Kan./Cowley College) led all in the match with 12 kills.
Samantha Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst HS) finished with a match-high 26 digs for the Pacers.
Sheila Walsh (Fort Mill, S.C./Nation Ford HS) was the final Pacer with double-digit digs with 10. Walsh claimed a double-double of her own as she also had a team-high tying 17 assists. Ashley Farwell (Wake Forest, N.C./Wake Forest-Rolesville HS) tied Walsh for the team-high with 17 assists.
USC Aiken's Hannah Tierney (Winchester, Va./James Wood HS) led all players in the match with five blocks.
Lander did not have any players with double-digit kills. Hannah Dederick was the top performer for the Bearcats with eight kills.
Katelyn Kraft acquired a team-high 16 digs for the Bearcats.
USC Aiken will next play host to Flagler at the Convocation Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.
USC Aiken's regular-season will close with the Pacers playing host to Armstrong at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Armstrong match will serve as Senior Day for the Pacers.
