Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team defeated UNC Pembroke 3-0 (25-21,25-16, 25-18) Friday night.
The win is the second consecutive for the Pacers after dropping four straight matches.
USC Aiken (17-9, 6-4 PBC) finished the match with a hitting percentage of .293. The Pacers held the Braves (5-20, 0-11 PBC) to a .160 hitting percentage for the match.
The Pacer offense was led by Shannon Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault HS) who earned a match-high 11 kills. Byers, the only Pacer with double-digit kills, just missed on a double-double by collecting nine digs.
Ashley Diedrich (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips HS) recorded nine kills and a match-high five service aces. Alex Petock (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge HS) facilitated USC Aiken's offense with 12 assists.
Samantha Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst HS) corralled a match-high 16 digs as the only Pacer with double-digit digs. Claire Patten also chipped in with nine digs, two kills and a service ace.
UNC Pembroke was led by Shea Peterson with 10 kills and Ashtin Truesdale with 11 digs.
The Pacers are next in action on the road Saturday at 2 p.m. against Francis Marion to close out their road schedule. The Pacers are next at home on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. hosting Lander at the Convocation Center.
