Pacers Best Mount Olive to Close Out Non-Conference Schedule Undefeated

AIKEN, S.C. – Two first half goals sparked the University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Mount Olive on Monday evening at the "Pacer Pit." 

The win on Monday allowed the Pacers to close out their non-conference schedule undefeated. The Pacers are 3-0-3 against non-conference teams this season. 

USC Aiken (4-3-3) started its scoring on Monday evening in the 20th-minute when Chinedu Arinze (Stone Mountain, Ga./Georgia State) scored on a give-and-go in the box with Mohamed Fall (Dakar, Senegal/USC Salkehatchie). Arinze took the pass back from Fall in the box and easily placed the ball into the lower left corner of the net for a 1-0 Pacer advantage.

In the 42nd-minute Chevy Augustine (Gouyave, Grenada/T. A. Marryshow CC) headed in a free kick from Dean Smith (Lexington, S.C./Lexington HS) to garner the Pacers a 2-0 lead at the halftime break. 

Mount Olive (3-7-1) scored its lone goal just over six minutes into the second half. Pablo Galarza scored the goal for the Trojans. 

USC Aiken and Mount Olive concluded the match with 13 shots each. The two teams each had three corner kicks.

The Pacers will next welcome league foe Montevallo to the "Pacer Pit" for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 13.
