MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country team finished 11th as a team at the 2012 6K Peach Belt Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.
The championship was held on the Montevallo campus.
The Pacers finished the Peach Belt Conference Women's Cross Country Championship with a total team time of 2:14:55.82.
Clayton State claimed top honors with a total team time of 1:57:16.20. The Lakers' 63 points bested second-place finisher Columbus State (70) by seven points. UNC Pembroke acquired a third-place finish with 103 points.
UNC Pembroke's Liva Mahaffie was the top individual finisher with a time of 22:36.83.
Keely Gillespie (Belvedere, S.C./North Augusta) was the top Pacer finisher, ending her efforts in 17th place with a time of 23:40.26. Gillespie's time is the best 6K time in school history.
USC Aiken's Hillary Spears (Bellbrook, Ohio/Northwood University) ended the championship in 66th place with a time of 27:05.22.
The Pacers owned the 74th-76th spots with Alexis Harvin (Las Animas, Colo./Las Animas HS), Kayla Millholland (Hampton, Ga./Luella HS) and Samantha Lisek (Zebulon, N.C./East Wake Academy) finishing in order.
Brittany May (Augusta, Ga./Greenbrier HS) was the final Pacer finisher, ending her efforts on the day in 78th place.
USC Aiken will next vie for its first-ever spot in the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship by competing in the 6K NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
