Box Score MORROW, Ga. – Regionally-ranked Clayton State picked up a narrow 1-0 victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action on Saturday evening at Laker Field.
USC Aiken is now 4-9-3 (3-5-1 PBC) on the 2012 season. Clayton State improved to 9-5-2 (5-3-2 PBC) on the year with its win over the Pacers.
Clayton State's Silvia Espelt scored the lone goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 24th-minute.
USC Aiken owned a 12-11 shot advantage in the contest. The Lakers took two more (5-3) corner kicks than the Pacers in the match.
Clayton State goalkeeper Laoise O'Driscoll made six saves en route to her clean sheet. Pacer goalkeeper Alli Edens (Lexington, S.C./College of Charleston) made four saves in the match.
Alex Cohen (Evans, Ga./Greenbrier HS) led USC Aiken in its loss to Clayton State with three shots.
USC Aiken will next return to the "Pacer Pit" for its final home match of the 2012 regular season against UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The 5 p.m. match against UNC Pembroke will serve as USC Aiken's 2012 Senior Day.
