Late Goal Leads Clayton State to 1-0 Victory Over Pacers

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State scored in the 89th-minute to claim a heartbreaking 1-0 victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team in Peach Belt Conference men's soccer action on Saturday evening at Laker Field.

USC Aiken is now 4-5-4 (1-5-1 PBC) on the 2012 season. Clayton State improved to 6-7-1 (2-5-1 PBC) with its win over the Pacers.

The score still 0-0, Clayton State claimed the game-winner when Jonny Evans scored off an assist from Elliot Prost at the 88:20 mark.

Clayton State owned a 24-6 shot advantage in the contest. The Lakers took five of the six corner kicks in the match.

Laker goalkeeper Sean Merfeld saved two Pacer shots in claiming the clean sheet between the pipes. USC Aiken goalkeeper Brandon Jarosz (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton HS) made six saves in the match.

USC Aiken will next return to the "Pacer Pit" for its final home match of the 2012 regular season against UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The 7:30 p.m. match against UNC Pembroke will serve as USC Aiken's 2012 Senior Day.
