Pacers Unable to Sink Nationally Second-Ranked Pirates

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Four second half goals led the nationally second-ranked Armstrong women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Armstrong Soccer Field.

The USC Aiken (4-8-3, 3-4-1 PBC) defense held strong in the first half, holding the Pirates scoreless to send the contest into a 0-0 tie at the halftime break.

Armstrong (12-1-1, 8-0-0 PBC) scored its first goal of the contest in the 48th-minute when Andye Dawson scored her third goal of the year off an assist from Stephanie James.

A little over two minutes later, Armstrong struck again when Morgan Mitchell netted her 16th tally of the season. She was assisted by Dawson.

In the 58th-minute, Armstrong's Nadima Skeff scored from 15 yards out to make the score 3-0 in the Pirates' favor.

Armstrong would acquire its fourth goal of the contest off a goal by Danielle Fey in the 73rd-minute.

The Pirates owned a 32-5 shot advantage in the contest. Armstrong took all 10 corner kicks in the match.

Olivia Stiltner (Lexington, S.C./Lexington HS) and Megan Smits (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson HS) led the Pacers with two shots each.

USC Aiken will next close its week with a 5 p.m. road Peach Belt Conference match against Clayton State in Morrow, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 20.
