Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Senior defender Chevy Augustine headed in two goals and the University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team tied Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion, 2-2, on Wednesday evening at the "Pacer Pit."
The Pacers have now gone to overtime in seven of their 12 matches this season. Four of USC Aiken's last five matches have gone to overtime.
All four goals in the match came in the second half.
Francis Marion (3-8-2, 0-5-2 PBC) netted the first goal in the 59th-minute when David Sheridan headed in a Ryan Begg corner kick.
The Patriots would hold on to the 1-0 lead until the 72nd-minute when Augustine (Gouyave, Grenada/T. A. Marryshow CC) headed in his first goal of the game off a corner kick from Jason King (Montego Bay, Jamaica/USC Salkehatchie).
Francis Marion took the lead back in the 80th-minute when Alex Blandin hit the ball into the lower right corner of the net off an assist from Henrique Guitti.
USC Aiken (4-4-4, 1-4-1 PBC) would not let Francis Marion emerge with the victory with Augustine heading in a Chinedu Arinze (Stone Mountain, Ga./Georgia State) corner kick with just a couple of minutes left in regulation.
Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the two overtime periods.
USC Aiken owned a 26-23 shot advantage in the contest. The Pacers took 11 of the 13 corner kicks in the match.
USC Aiken will next close out its week with a 7:30 p.m. road match against Clayton State in Morrow, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 20.
