AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's
basketball player Kayla Harris was named the South Carolina
Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of
the Week on Jan. 29, 2012.
This marks the third time in the 2011-12 season that Harris has
claimed the award. She was also chosen the South Carolina Education
Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
on Dec. 5, 2011 and on Jan. 8, 2012.
Harris led the nationally 15th-ranked Pacers last
week by averaging 15 points and six rebounds per game in USC
Aiken's three contests. She also dished out an average of 1.7
assists per game.
Harris posted doubles figures in two of USC Aiken's three
games on the week. She opened last week by scoring 11 points to go
along with six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in
USC Aiken's win over Georgia Southwestern on Monday, Jan.
23.
Harris concluded last week by scoring a career-high tying 25
points in USC Aiken's road loss to national No. 2 Clayton
State on Saturday, Jan. 28. Harris hit eight of her 15 shot
attempts (53.3 percent) in the game. She knocked down nine of her
12 (75 percent) free throw attempts in the contest.
