Pacers Blow Past Hurricanes

AIKEN, S.C. – Led by three players in double figures the nationally 11th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team picked up a 65-42 victory over Georgia Southwestern on Monday evening at the Convocation Center.

USC Aiken (15-2, 8-1 PBC) has now won 14 of its last 15 games. The Pacers are a perfect 9-0 at the Convocation Center in the 2011-12 regular season.

The Pacers held Georgia Southwestern to just 21 percent (13-for-62) shooting as a team on Monday evening.

USC Aiken concluded its dominating win over Georgia Southwestern (11-5, 3-4 PBC) shooting 38.9 percent (21-for-54) as a team.

Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) led all players in the game with 14 points. DeGraffinreed netted 11 of her 14 points in the first half. She finished the game with six rebounds to go along with a career-high tying three blocks.

DeGraffinreed missed just two field goal (4-for-6) attempts on the night. She was 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

Mia Antoine (Stone Mountain, Ga./Dominion Christian) knocked down a career-high eight free throws en route to a career-best 13 points in the Pacer win over Georgia Southwestern. She was 8-for-9 from the free throw line in total. She also had four assists.

Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) was the final Pacer in double figures with 11 points, four assists, a career-high tying two blocks and two steals.

Terra Branch was the only Hurricane player to acquire double figures. She ended her evening with 11 points. 

The two teams were tied at 14-all with 11:55 remaining in the first half. Then USC Aiken took over. 

The Pacers closed the first stanza on a 22-10 run to enter the halftime break clinging to a 12-point 36-24 lead.

In the second half, USC Aiken would outscore Georgia Southwestern, 29-18.

USC Aiken will next travel to Montevallo, Ala. for its first game against former Pacer assistant Cindy Hilbrich and the Montevallo Falcons. USC Aiken head coach Mike Brandt and the Pacers will take on his former protégé Hilbrich and the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 26.
