Pacers Tie School Record With 11th Consecutive Victory

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The nationally 13th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team picked up its 11th straight win in a 66-43 victory over Georgia College in Peach Belt Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Center.

USC Aiken's 11 victories in a row ties the school record for most consecutive wins. The last time a Pacer women's basketball squad won 11 games in a row came in the 2001-02 season (Nov. 20, 2001-Jan. 16, 2002). 

USC Aiken (12-1, 5-0 PBC) is also now 17-0 over the last two seasons when holding its foes to under 50 points after Saturday's victory over Georgia College (3-11, 1-4 PBC). The Pacers have held their last three foes to under 50 points.

The Pacers concluded the dominating win over Georgia College shooting 43.1 percent (22-for-51) as a team. USC Aiken held Georgia College to just 24.5 percent (12-for-49) shooting as team.

Three Pacers finished in double figures with Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) leading the way with 13 points and nine rebounds. She claimed four of her nine boards on the offensive glass. DeGraffinreed was 4-for-5 from the field in the Pacer victory.

Both Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) and Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) acquired 10 points in the USC Aiken win. Hill also had four rebounds and two assists. Tarailo had five steals to go along with her 10 points.

Shanteona Keys scored 22 of Georgia College's 43 points in the game. She was the only Bobcat in double figures.

Georgia College commenced the contest by scoring the first four points of the game. USC Aiken would take over from there, closing the half on a 31-15 run to take a 31-19 lead into intermission.

USC Aiken shot 42 percent (11-for-26) in the first half. The Pacers led by as many as 15 points in the first half.

The stifling Pacer defense held Georgia College to just five made field goals in the first stanza. The Bobcats shot just 22 percent (5-of-23) as a team in the first half of action.

Georgia College would not be able to get any closer in the second half.

USC Aiken would lead by as many as 24 with under four minutes left in the second half before emerging with the 23-point win.

USC Aiken will next play host to rival Augusta State at the Convocation Center on Monday, Jan. 16. The Peach Belt Conference men's and women's basketball doubleheader will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the No. 13 Pacer women tangling with the Augusta State women.

The Pacer men will take on the Jaguar men immediately following the women's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The USC Aiken-Augusta State doubleheader is being sponsored by Aiken Staffing Associates, Papa John's and Gordon Chevrolet.

During halftime of the men's game, the USC Aiken athletic department will honor its spring sports student-athletes.

The Peach Belt Conference and SunTrust Banks, Inc. will also honor former Pacer men's soccer player Kofi Trim for obtaining the PBC-SunTrust Minority Postgraduate scholarship during the men's halftime break.

USC Aiken is hoping to pack the Convocation Center for the doubleheader so Pacer fans are encouraged to come early to get the best seats.
