Golfstat Head-to-Head Standings (9/29)
AIKEN, S.C. – In the first Golfstat NCAA Division II
Head-to-Head Standings, the University of South Carolina Aiken golf
team is ranked No. 1 in the country.
USC Aiken currently has a Golfstat rating of 90.621 percent.
The top ranking for USC Aiken marks the first time
that the Pacers have ascended to No. 1 in the nation since April of
2009.
Central Oklahoma (86.807 percent) is ranked second in the first
Golfstat NCAA Division II Head-to-Head Standings, while Lynn
(89.686 percent) is third. The Pacers are the only Peach Belt
Conference team currently in the top 10.
Golfstat takes into account numerous statistical data and ranks
teams based on potential head-to-head competition.
The Pacers also currently boast the top individual in NCAA
Division II as Kyle Godsman is currently leading the Golfstat Cup
standings in Division II with a 69.67 scoring average. The Golfstat
Cup is awarded by Golfstat, Inc. in every division to the men's
collegiate golfer with the lowest yearly scoring average.
The Sept. 15 Peach Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the
Week, Kyle Godsman (Moray, Scotland/Lossiemouth) most recently
finished tied for second individually at the Springhill Suites
Intercollegiate.
Despite being ranked No. 1 by Golfstat, USC Aiken moved up just
one spot to 17th in the latest Golf World/Nike
Division II Coaches' Poll that was released yesterday.
The Pacers have commenced their 2011-12
season strongly by finishing second in both of their events in the
fall of 2011.
USC Aiken opened the year by finishing second
at the 36-hole Eighth Annual Kiawah Island Invitational, which was
held on Sept. 5-6. One week later, USC Aiken concluded the 54-hole
Springhill Suites Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13) in second
place.
The No. 1 ranked Pacers will next play in Akron's Firestone
Invitational at the par 72 Firestone Country Club. The tournament
will be contested Monday, Oct. 10-Tuesday, Oct. 11. USC Aiken will
be playing in the Firestone Invitational for the first time in
2011.
