USC Aiken Drops PBC Match to Armstrong

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Armstrong Atlantic State on Tuesday evening at the "Pacer Pit."

Armstrong (6-2, 3-0 PBC) scored its first goal of the match in the 41st-minute when Morgan Mitchell lifted a shot into the top left corner of the Pacer net for a 1-0 Pirate advantage.

The Pirates would strike again in the 50th-minute when Andye Dawson took advantage of a loose ball in the box by hitting a one-timer into the top left corner.

Armstrong's final goal of the match came in the 67th-minute when Casey Dixon flicked in a Dawson corner kick to set the score at 3-0.

Armstrong owned a 16-5 advantage in shot opportunities in the match, while also owning a 5-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

USC Aiken (3-4, 0-2 PBC) goalkeeper Alli Edens (Lexington, S.C./College of Charleston) made four saves for the Pacers in the match.

The Pacers will next hit the road for a Peach Belt Conference match against league foe Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala. on Sunday, Oct. 2. The match is scheduled to commence at 1 p.m. EST.
