USC Aiken Falls on Road to Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken Men's Soccer team fell 3-0 to Newberry on Wednesday afternoon.

Newberry (3-2) scored the first goal of the match in the fourth-minute when Joseph Santos netted his first goal of the season off an assist by Adrian Ochoa.

Stephen Harvey scored the second goal of the match for the Wolves in the 71st-minute.

Kyle Maitland scored the third and final goal of the match for Newberry in the 87th-minute. The goal was Maitland's fourth of the 2011 season.

Despite the three-goal loss, USC Aiken finished the match having taken nine more shots than Newberry at 17-8. The Pacers owned a 6-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities. 

USC Aiken (2-4) will next travel to Hartsville, S.C. to face off against Coker at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Pacers and Cobras tied 0-0 in 2010.
