Box Score 2 2011 USC Aiken Invitational Final Results
AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
Volleyball team concluded the final day of the 2011 USC Aiken
Volleyball Invitational at the Convocation Center by splitting its
two matches on the day.
USC Aiken (4-4) opened its day on Friday by besting Pfeiffer,
3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-15). In its final match of the
tournament, USC Aiken fell in four games to Lynn (25-20, 23-25,
25-18, 25-13).
The Pacers were led by sophomore Emily Maassen
(Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) in the victory over the Falcons.
Maassen was the only player on either squad to finish with multiple
kills as she recorded 12. Maassen concluded the match hitting
.611.
Shannon
Byers (Morristown, Minn./Faribault) ended the win over Pfeiffer
leading the Pacers with 12 digs. Pacer libero Claire Patten
(Boulder, Colo./Mercer) added 12 digs of her own.
Jordan O'Bryant led Pfeiffer with eight kills. Pfeiffer's Taylor
Houser tied Byers for match-high honors with 15 digs.
Jessica
Loper (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing Christian) finished with
the most kills for the Pacers in the loss to Lynn as she claimed
eight.
Byers once again led the Pacers in digs with 23, while Patten
and Sheila
Walsh (Fort Mill, S.C./Nation Ford) both acquired 14 digs.
Lynn's Nikki Haben was one of four Fighting Knights with
double-digit digs as she recorded 28 in the win over the Pacers.
Brittany Brown led Lynn with 11 kills.
USC Aiken will now not play a match at home again in September
after hosting the USC Aiken Volleyball Invitational. The stretch
includes a season-high nine consecutive matches away from the
friendly confines of the Convocation Center.
The Pacers will begin their road stretch in Atlanta, Ga. in a
tri-match with West Georgia and Emory on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The
Pacers will first play West Georgia at 3 p.m. before tangling with
NCAA Division III power Emory on their home floor at approximately
5 p.m.
