USC Aiken Volleyball All-Decade Team Announced

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken athletic department and head coach Glenn Cox unveiled the 2000-10 Volleyball All-Decade team on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.

The 2000-10 USC Aiken Volleyball All-Decade team features seven student-athletes.

“I have had the pleasure of coaching four of the student-athletes in this group, and have seen and met all of the others,” remarked Cox. “This is a great group of student-athletes that represents Pacer volleyball extremely well; both academically and athletically.

Mandy Gerolstein (2004-07) is one of three Pacer volleyball student-athletes to have their jersey retired. Gerolstein was chosen as an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America first team selection at the conclusion of her senior year in 2007. Gerolstein ended her four years at USC Aiken with a near perfect 3.97 Grade Point Average. She was named the 2007-08 Peach Belt Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her efforts on the court and in the classroom. The three-time Academic All-District selection was also a three-time Peach Belt Conference All-Conference (2005, 2006 and 2007) choice and Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament selection (2005, 2006 and 2007). A seven-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week and the 2006 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, Gerolstein was tabbed as the 2007 Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year. Gerolstein ranks third all-time in school history with 1,455 career kills. She is second in school history in solo blocks (140), third in block assists (344) and second all-time in total blocks (484).

Lauren Cedeno (2007-09) is fourth all-time in Pacer history in assists with 2,354. A 2009 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic and All-Conference selection, Cedeno was a two-time Peach Belt Conference Specialist of the Week, winning the weekly award on Aug. 24, 2007 and Nov. 5, 2007.

Missy Deardorff (2004-07) concluded her career as a Pacer fourth all-time in school history with 403 total blocks. Her 352 block assists are second-best in school history. Deardorff claimed the most block assists in Pacer single season history in the 2006 season with 124.

Veronica Seidle (2004-07) ended her four years in a Pacer uniform third all-time in school history in total digs with 1,488.

Stefanie Durham (2005-08) is one of just six Pacers in school history to be a part of the 1,000-kill club as she concluded her career at USC Aiken with 1,111 kills. Durham is also second all-time in school history in total digs with 1,551. Her 486 digs in the 2006 season is the fourth-most in a single season by a Pacer. Durham was a two-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection, claiming the league plaudits in both 2007 and 2008. She was the 2007 Peach Belt Conference Most Valuable Player. A three-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, Durham finished the 2007 season with a school single season third-best 0.61 service aces per game.

A Peach Belt Conference All-Conference selection in her first two seasons with the program, Shannon Byers (2009-pres.) has claimed 665 kills and 650 digs in her career thus far. Byers led the Pacers in kills as a freshman in 2009 with 326. As a sophomore in 2010, Byers once again led the Pacers with 339 kills. Byers has 28 double-doubles in her career.

Samantha Lukralle (2009-pres.) owns the school single season digs record with 634 digs in the 2010 season. One year earlier, Lukralle had originally broken the school single-season digs mark with 523 digs. Her 1,157 digs in her first two seasons is already good enough to put her in the top six in school history in the category. For her efforts in the 2010 season, Lukralle was chosen the Peach Belt Conference Libero of the Year. She was also tabbed to the Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament team and the Daktronics All-Region team. During USC Aiken's 3-0 win over Coker on Oct. 23, 2010, Lukralle broke the school single match record for most service aces with 10.

The head coaches of each of USC Aiken's teams selected the 2000-10 USC Aiken Athletic Department All-Decade teams.
