AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head
softball coach Jerry Snyder unveiled his 25th schedule
in charge of the Pacer softball program on Tuesday, Aug. 23,
2011.
The 2012 Pacer softball schedule features 14 home doubleheaders
at J.H. Satcher Field to go along with a full Peach Belt Conference
slate. USC Aiken will play a doubleheader with its opposition on
every one of its scheduled dates in the 2012 season.
“Again this year as in years in the past, we are facing a
tough, challenging schedule,” noted Snyder. “It is
loaded with not only the Peach Belt Conference schools, but also
all of the schools that made it to last year's NCAA
regionals. With a solid returning core and a strong new class, I
feel confident that we should be successful.”
The Pacers will open the 2012 season on the road against Catawba
on Saturday, Feb. 18. The first game of the doubleheader is
scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. USC Aiken has won three
straight games against Catawba to now own a 17-3 all-time series
lead. The Pacers took two from the Indians at J.H. Satcher Field
last season.
USC Aiken will begin its 2012 home campaign with three
consecutive doubleheaders.
The first Pacer home twinbill of the year will feature USC Aiken
squaring off against Queens on Sunday, Feb. 19. USC Aiken has taken
five straight games from Queens. The two programs will open the
doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Two days later, USC Aiken welcomes Erskine to its home facility.
The Pacers and Flying Fleet will open the first game of their
doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The Pacers own a
15-4 all-time series lead over the Flying Fleet. Last year, USC
Aiken downed Erskine twice in Due West, S.C.
USC Aiken and Chowan are scheduled to play a doubleheader next
at J.H. Satcher Field with the Pacers and Hawks scheduled to get
game one of their twinbill underway at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24.
USC Aiken is 4-0 all-time against the Hawks.
USC Aiken will commence Peach Belt Conference action in the
2011 season on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Florence, S.C. against Francis
Marion. The Pacers and Patriots will open their doubleheader at 1
p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. The second game will follow shortly
after the conclusion of game one.
After the Francis Marion doubleheader, USC Aiken will host a
season-high tying four straight doubleheaders. USC Aiken will first
close out what will end up being three doubleheaders in one weekend
by welcoming Shaw to the friendly confines of J.H. Satcher Field on
Sunday, Feb. 26. First pitch in game one is slated for 1 p.m.
A few days later, USC Aiken will close out the first month of
February by playing host to South Atlantic Conference foe Tusculum
on Wednesday, Feb. 29. The Pacers and Pioneers will begin their
doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9. USC Aiken has won
eight straight in the Tusculum series to own a 9-1 all-time series
advantage.
The Pacers the very next day will open the month of March by
hosting Flagler in their first league home doubleheader of the
year. The Pacers and Saints will begin their twinbill at 2 p.m. on
Thursday, March 1.
USC Aiken will close out their week with two doubleheaders over
the course of the weekend, beginning with a home twinbill against
South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate on Saturday, March 3. The
doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The weekend closes one
day later in Gaffney, S.C. with the Pacers tangling with Limestone
on Sunday, March 4. USC Aiken's doubleheader with Limestone
is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
The Pacers will conclude what amounts to five doubleheaders in
the first seven days of March with one road doubleheader against
Carson-Newman on Tuesday, March 6 before returning home for a
doubleheader against Le Moyne on Wednesday, March 14. The
Carson-Newman doubleheader in Jefferson City, Tenn. is slated to
begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6. On Wednesday, March 7, USC
Aiken's home twinbill with first-time foe Le Moyne will
commence at 3 p.m.
The Le Moyne doubleheader is the first of a season-high tying
four doubleheaders at J.H. Satcher Field. One week after squaring
off with the Dolphins of Le Moyne, USC Aiken welcomes regional
power Lenoir-Rhyne for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 14. The
doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. USC Aiken split
a doubleheader with then nationally 13th-ranked
Lenoir-Rhyne last season in Hickory, N.C.
USC Aiken will close out its week with two conference
doubleheaders at J.H. Satcher Field. The Pacers will first welcome
Georgia Southwestern for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 17 and
then welcome Columbus State one day for a doubleheader on Sunday,
March 18. First pitch in game one against Georgia Southwestern is
set for 1 p.m., while the inaugural game of the Columbus State
doubleheader on Sunday, March 18 will get underway at 2 p.m.
The Pacers will close the month of March and begin the month of
April by hitting the road for a season-long four consecutive
doubleheaders. On Friday, March 23 the Pacers will travel to
Laurinburg, N.C. for a doubleheader against St. Andrews. The
twinbill is slated to begin with the first game at 2 p.m. Two days
later, USC Aiken will travel to Milledgeville, Ga. for a league
doubleheader with Georgia College. Action in game one of the
doubleheader is scheduled to commence at 2 p.m.
The next weekend, USC Aiken will first travel to Pembroke, N.C.
for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with UNC Pembroke. The
action is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. on Friday, March
30.
USC Aiken will then hit the road for a doubleheader with
defending Peach Belt Conference champion North Georgia in
Dahlonega, Ga. on Sunday, April 1. The first game of the twinbill
is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
Three of USC Aiken's final four doubleheaders of the
season will be inside the friendly confines of J.H. Satcher Field.
USC Aiken welcomes rival Augusta State to J.H. Satcher Field for a
league twinbill on Wednesday, April 4. The doubleheader is
scheduled to begin with the first game at 4 p.m. Two days later,
USC Aiken welcomes Pfeiffer to its home facility for its final home
non-conference doubleheader of the year. The Pacers and Falcons
will kick off the action in the first game of the twinbill at 3
p.m. on Friday, April 6.
USC Aiken's final road doubleheader of the year features
the Pacers traveling to Brevard, N.C. to face off against Brevard
on Wednesday, April 11. The first game of the doubleheader is set
to commence at 2 p.m.
USC Aiken welcomes league rival Armstrong Atlantic State to J.H.
Satcher Field for its final regular season doubleheader of the
year. The doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with
game one, will serve as USC Aiken's Senior Day.
