Aiken Women's Soccer Schedule
AIKEN, S.C. – Seventh-year head coach Sue Vodicka unveiled
the 2011 University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer
schedule on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
The 2011 USC Aiken women's soccer schedule features a full
Peach Belt Conference slate and seven home games at the
“Pacer Pit.”
USC Aiken will hold its annual “Kick Out Cancer”
game at the “Pacer Pit” on Saturday, Oct. 8 against
Georgia Southwestern. The Pacer men will play the Georgia
Southwestern men at 5 p.m. prior to the women's game that
evening at 7 p.m.
Vodicka is excited about the prospects of the upcoming campaign,
particularly after the Pacers closed out the fall of 2010 by
securing a positive result in four of its last five games.
“Coming off our best spring since I have been here in
terms of team unity, competition and focus, Coach Deer and I are
really looking forward to the fall,” mused Vodicka. “We
are excited to play some new teams in USC Beaufort and Valdosta
State, as well as the always tough Peach Belt Conference games. I
expect the PBC to have several teams ranked nationally, and that
certainly adds to the challenge.”
The Pacers open the 2011 regular season with two road games,
beginning with a road game against in-state rival Coker at 7 p.m.
on Thursday, Sept. 1. USC Aiken is 6-2 all-time against Coker.
Following the Coker match, USC Aiken will stay in the Palmetto
state for a 1 p.m. contest against Newberry in Newberry, S.C. on
Sunday, Sept. 1. USC Aiken bested Newberry, 2-0, last season at the
“Pacer Pit.”
The Pacers will open their 2011 home schedule on Wednesday,
Sept. 7 with a 5 p.m. contest against Brevard at the “Pacer
Pit.” In the first ever meeting between the two programs last
season in Brevard, N.C., USC Aiken garnered a 2-1 win.
On Saturday, Sept. 10, USC Aiken will open Peach Belt Conference
play against North Georgia at the “Pacer Pit.” Kick-off
is scheduled for 5 p.m.
After trying to win its seventh straight game against Anderson
at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in Anderson, S.C., USC Aiken will
have a week off before traveling to Wingate, N.C. to face off
against Wingate at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19.
On Thursday, Sept. 22, USC Aiken will welcome first-time
opponent USC Beaufort to the “Pacer Pit” for a 7 p.m.
match. Five days later, USC Aiken will close out the month of
September by playing host to 2010 Peach Belt Conference regular
season champion Armstrong Atlantic State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday,
Sept. 27.
The month of October will commence for USC Aiken with the Pacers
traveling to Montevallo for a 1 p.m. EST game against the Falcons
on Sunday, Oct. 2. A few days later, USC Aiken will travel to
Pembroke, N.C. for a league match with UNC Pembroke at 5 p.m. on
Wednesday, Oct. 5.
After hosting Georgia Southwestern for its annual “Kick
Out Cancer” contest on Saturday, Oct. 8, the Pacers will
travel to first-time foe Valdosta State for a 5 p.m. game on
Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Valdosta, Ga.
The Pacers will then welcome Flagler to the “Pacer
Pit” for a 5 p.m. contest on Saturday, Oct. 15.
USC Aiken will close out its 2011 season by playing three its
last four matches on the road. All four matches are league
games.
The first of three straight road games in October for USC Aiken
begins with a 4:30 p.m. match against Lander on Wednesday, Oct. 19
in Greenwood, S.C. A few days later, USC Aiken will square off
against national and league power Columbus State at 3 p.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 22 in Columbus, Ga.
USC Aiken's final road game of the year will take place on
Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Milledgeville, Ga. against Georgia College.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
The Pacers' final home game of the year is at 5 p.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 29 against league foe Clayton State. The game will
serve as Senior Day for the Pacers.
