AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken softball player Kylee Knop has been named the final Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month of the 2010-11 athletic year for her efforts in the month of May.
In USC Aiken's two games in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional in Hickory, N.C., Knop led the Pacers with a .500 batting average (3-for-6).
The junior from Oxford, Ga. served as the designated player for the Pacers in both of their games in the regional.
In USC Aiken's narrow 1-0 loss to national No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne in its regional opener on Friday, May 13, Knop was 2-for-3. She was 1-for-3 at the dish in USC Aiken's final game of the regional against Carson-Newman on Saturday, May 14.
Knop slugged .500 for the week. She also had an on-base percentage of .500.
Knop made an appearance in the circle in the Southeast Regional for the Pacers, pitching the final two-thirds of an inning in USC Aiken's loss to Carson-Newman.
The Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honored one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2010-11 athletic year one winner was chosen from an in-season sport.
