Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The first three hitters in the lineup combined for half of USC Aiken's 18 hits on the day in leading the University of South Carolina Aiken to a 14-4 win over visiting Young Harris on Tuesday evening at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.
USC Aiken (20-15) led from start to finish in Tuesday's win over Young Harris (18-19). The Pacers scored at least one run in every inning but one. The Pacers posted multiple runs in five innings.
Reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Teddy Leverett (Evans, Ga./Truett-McConnell) as the leadoff hitter for USC Aiken finished with two hits in the game, while Pacer shortstop Stephen Carmon (Camden, S.C./Camden) in the No. 2 spot in the Pacer batting order ended his evening with three hits.
Leverett was 2-for-4 with two runs scored in total. Carmon was 3-for-5 with one RBI and three runs scored.
In the third spot, Josh Miller (Chapin, S.C./Chapin) was a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Chris Gaines (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) was the final USC Aiken player to secure multiple hits as the Pacer designated hitter went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
In total, USC Aiken out-hit non-conference foe Young Harris, 18-6.
Three Young Harris players acquired all of the Mountain Lion hits as Zach Bricknell, Evan Carr and Jack Morrow each had two hits.
The game featured nine pitchers with the five Pacer pitchers in the contest combining to strike out 12 Mountain Lion batters.
In relief of first-time starter Taylor Peed (St. Leonard, Md./Calvert), USC Aiken reliever Jake Padgett (Gilbert, S.C./Gilbert) earned the win on the hill on Tuesday. He pitched 2.1 innings, striking out two. He is now 1-0 on the year.
Adam Moore of Young Harris dropped to 4-3 on the year with his loss on the mound on Tuesday. He dealt the first 3.1 innings, allowing six runs and nine hits.
USC Aiken will next travel to Augusta, Ga. for a conference series against rival Augusta State.
The three-game series is scheduled to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 9. The first game of the twinbill is slated to begin at 12 p.m. with the second game scheduled to start shortly after the conclusion of game one.
The third and final game of the series will be played at noon on Sunday, April 10.
