INDIANAPOLIS – The nationally 17th-ranked
University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is ranked ninth in the
inaugural NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings of the spring
of 2011.
The Pacers are one of six Peach Belt Conference teams currently
in the top 10 in the region. Georgia College is the highest ranked
PBC squad, coming in at No. 1. Armstrong Atlantic State is third in
the region poll followed by Columbus State (fourth) and UNC
Pembroke (fifth). Flagler is just ahead of the Pacers in
eighth.
The Pacers have had a solid spring so far as USC Aiken has
finished in the top 10 as a team in four of its five tournaments
this spring. The Pacers have secured three top five finishes,
including a third place finish at West Florida's Argonaut
Invitational.
USC Aiken is concluding play today at the 2011 Insperity Augusta
State Invitational.
The third and final round of the 2011 Insperity Augusta State
Invitational began at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 3. The first Pacer
teed off at 10:30 a.m. on hole No. 10.
The 2011 Insperity Augusta State Invitational is USC
Aiken's final regular season tournament of the 2010-11
season.
USC Aiken will next compete in the Peach Belt Conference
Championship, which will be contested on Monday, April 11 and
Tuesday, April 12 at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler,
Ga.
