Pacers Drop Final League Game and Series of Season to Falcons

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team (27-20, 9-15 PBC) concluded their 2011 Peach Belt Conference slate by dropping the rubber game with the visiting University of Montevallo Falcons (20-25, 8-16 PBC) 15-2 Saturday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

Stephen Bellantoni (Ovideo, Fla./Lake Sumter) was the lone bright spot for USC Aiken as he went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored one of USC Aiken's two runs. Josh Miller (Chapin, S.C./Chapin) secured the other run for the Pacers.

Starting pitcher Jeremy Smith (Minter, Ala./Southern Union) suffered the loss on the mound for USC Aiken to fall to 3-4 for the season. Alex Guilford claimed the victory for Montevallo to improve to 5-3 for the year.

USC Aiken's season-ending home stand continues on Monday, April 25 with the second game against Young Harris at 6:30 p.m. The Pacers and Mountain Lions battled earlier this season with USC Aiken claiming a 14-4 victory.
