AUGUSTA, Ga. – The 26th-ranked University South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team fell 6-3 to 18th-ranked Augusta State in Peach Belt Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.
USC Aiken (7-7, 1-6 PBC) began the eventual loss to Augusta State (13-5, 3-4 PBC) by taking two of the three doubles matches.
The No. 1 Pacer doubles tandem of Gregory Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Unigrade Valinhos) and Bruno Orlandini (Araraquara, SP/Brazil /Longwood) downed the Jaguar No. 1 tandem of Bernardo Fernandes and Henrique Boturao, 9-7.
At No. 3 doubles, Juan Manuel Guglielmeti (Mar del Plata, Argentina /Instituto Albert Einstein) and Lucas Gobbi (Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, Brazil /Colegio Politec) earned a 9-8 win over Augusta State's Maxime Coulomb and Jenner Stevenson.
The Pacers would only be able to secure one win in singles in the 6-3 loss with Josh Rees (Torquay, England/Torquay Boy's Grammar School) defeating Augusta State's Rafael Milhati 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
USC Aiken will next welcome ABAC to the USC Aiken Tennis Complex for a 2 p.m. match on Friday, April 1.
