AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team was unable to acquire a victory over 45th-ranked Augusta State on Tuesday afternoon at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex, falling 7-2.
Augusta State (9-6, 4-3 PBC) opened things up in the match by sweeping all three doubles matches from USC Aiken (7-8, 1-6 PBC).
The Pacers were able to snag two of the singles matches, but it would not be enough in the Jaguar team victory.
USC Aiken won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
Stephanie Humphrey (Harpenden, England/Sir John Lawes) claimed the point at No. 1 singles for USC Aiken by rebounding from a first set loss and besting Augusta State No. 1 Victoria Lindqvist 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Andrea Cediel (Cali, Colombia/Cypress Bay) collected the point at No. 3 singles for the Pacers with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Augusta State's Bianca Machado.
The USC Aiken women will next host a home match against PBC rival Columbus State on Friday, March 25. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
