USC Aiken Men and Women Claim Inaugural PBC Victories of 2011 Season

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's and women's tennis teams continued their winning ways on Saturday by earning their first Peach Belt Conference victories of the 2011 season against North Georgia at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex.

The USC Aiken women earned a 7-2 win over North Georgia, while the nationally 26th-ranked Pacer men downed the Saints 5-4.

The USC Aiken women (7-6, 1-4 PBC) won their second straight by downing North Georgia (7-7, 2-5 PBC) on Saturday afternoon.

The USC Aiken men (7-4, 1-3 PBC) acquired their fourth consecutive victory in besting North Georgia (6-5, 0-4 PBC).

The Pacer women set the tone in their win over North Georgia by sweeping doubles.

The Pacer women also earned the win at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

A tight match throughout, the USC Aiken men claimed the overall victory due to its 2-1 victory in doubles. The Pacer dropped the No. 1 doubles match before earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The Pacer men garnered the win at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

The USC Aiken men and women will play their third match in as many days tomorrow (Sunday) in Greenwood, S.C. against Peach Belt Conference foe Lander. The matches are scheduled to commence at 1:30 p.m.
