BELMONT, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's and women's tennis teams dominated Belmont Abbey on Friday afternoon at the Sacred Heart Courts.
Both the Pacer men and women acquired 9-0 wins over the host Crusaders.
The nationally 26th-ranked USC Aiken men are now 6-4 on the 2011 spring season after their win over Belmont Abbey (0-8). The Pacer women moved back to .500 on the year at 6-6 with their win over Belmont Abbey (0-9).
The Pacer men shut out their foe in two of three doubles matches with USC Aiken earning an 8-0 win at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
In singles, USC Aiken's Bruno Orlandini (Araraquara, SP/Brazil /Longwood) downed Belmont Abbey's Patrick Noelke 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Josh Rees (Torquay, England/Torquay Boy's Grammar School) won 6-0, 6-0 over Belmont Abbey's Rob Franer at No. 5 singles.
The Pacer women garnered 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
USC Aiken's No. 1 doubles tandem of Stephanie Humphrey (Harpenden, England/Sir John Lawes) and Margot Simon (Nantes, France/St. Joseph de Loquidy) won 8-0 over Belmont Abbey's Brooke Ingram and Molly Gwaltney.
The Pacer men and women return home tomorrow (Saturday) for a 2:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match against North Georgia.
