AIKEN, S.C. – Re'mon Nelson more resembled a quarterback looking for a wide receiver on a hail mary pass than a point guard as he hurled the ball down the entire length of the court, connecting with Alvin Brown with 1.2 seconds left in regulation. Brown's attempted shot missed its mark, allowing UNC Pembroke to capitalize on its two-point lead to capture the 68-66 win Tuesday night in Peach Belt Conference Tournament Quarterfinal action at the Convocation Center.

The PBC East Division No. 2 Pacers now find themselves 17-10 while the third-seeded Braves will continue into Semifinal-Saturday with an equal record of 17-10. UNC Pembroke will take on the PBC West's No. 1 Georgia Southwestern Saturday evening at 8 p.m. after the Hurricanes defeated the West's fourth-seeded Clayton State Lakers Tuesday evening.

After UNC Pembroke entered intermission clinging to a three-point (36-33) lead, the lead changed hands eight times in the second half, with the largest lead coming at the 4:39 mark when the Braves were up by eight.

The Pacers would close over the final minutes, coming within one point with two seconds left in regulation as Kevin Willis (Atlanta, Ga./Kaskaskia) hit one of his free-throw attempts.

Shamel Brackett would match Willis with a free-throw of his own, giving the Braves the two-point lead with 1.2 on the game clock. After a tense timeout, the Pacers came out with four under the goal, clearing the way for Nelson's court-long pass to Brown.

Despite Nelson placing the ball perfectly in Brown's hands from about 94 feet away, Brown's shot missed its mark to seal the loss.

Three Pacers were able to manage double-digit points as Nelson (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) and Sterling Council (Camden, S.C./Camden) led the Pacers from the field with 15 points each. Brown (Fort Washington, Md./James Madison) had another stout performance, registering his third double-double of the season as he corralled in 12 rebounds to go along with 11 points while also swatting away seven shots.

Brackett led all scorers with 16 points for the Braves while Cody Hughes chipped in 11 points of his own.
