ATLANTA – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team remained perfect in the 2011 season with an 8-1 road victory over Clark Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon.
The win improves the USC Aiken women to 2-0 on the young season. Clark Atlanta dropped to 0-2 on the year with the loss to the Pacers.
USC Aiken's lone loss in the match came at No. 1 singles.
The Pacers opened Tuesday's match by easily taking the three doubles points with the tandem of Melanie Schnieder (Gensingen, Germany/Lina-Hilger Gymnasium) and Caitlyn Lawrence (Barrie, Ontario /Barrie North Collegiate) picking up the biggest win in doubles with an 8-1 win over Clark Atlanta's Ivory Conley and Cydney Reid at No. 3 doubles.
Lawrence was also a part of the biggest win in singles on the day for the Pacers, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Reid at No. 6 singles.
USC Aiken will next put its undefeated record to the test against current national No. 49 Erskine at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex on Thursday, Feb. 10. The match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
