AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
men's and women's tennis teams have cancelled their
season-opening trip to the state of Georgia and will now open their
2011 spring season at home at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6 against
Young Harris.
The Pacers had been scheduled to open their year against Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural College on Friday, Feb. 4 on the road. One day
later, they were scheduled to take on national power Valdosta State
in Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday, Feb. 5.
The USC Aiken men's tennis team was ranked in the top 30 by the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association for all of the 2010 season. The
Pacers were ranked as high as 17th nationally.
Playing one of the toughest schedules in all of NCAA Division II
tennis, USC Aiken was able to make its fifth consecutive NCAA
regional appearance. The Pacers bowed out in the first round, but
still finished the year with a very respectable 11-12 overall
record. In the toughest tennis league in all of NCAA Division II,
USC Aiken finished with a 2-7 mark in the Peach Belt
Conference.

USC Aiken's 2010 women's tennis team closed last year with a
9-11 record. The Pacers finished their conference season with a
mark of 4-8. The four wins in league play helped the Pacers reach
at least four wins in league action for the third time in the last
four years.
