AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken
women's basketball player Hannah DeGraffinreed has been named
the Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department
Student-Athlete of the Month for her efforts in the month of
December.
DeGraffinreed has now been selected the Days Inn Downtown Aiken
USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for two
consecutive months. She was also tabbed the Days Inn Downtown Aiken
USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for the
month of November after averaging 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds
during USC Aiken's first five games of the 2011-12 regular
season.
DeGraffinreed helped lead nationally-ranked USC Aiken to a
perfect 5-0 record during the month of December.
The senior forward from Raleigh, N.C. averaged a team
second-best 14 points to go along with a team-best 5.2 rebounds per
game over the course of the month. She also averaged 2.6 assists
and 1.8 steals per game during the month of December.
DeGraffinreed shot 58 percent (29-for-50) from the field over
the course of the five games in December. She hit 12 of her 15 (80
percent) free throw attempts in December.
DeGraffinreed scored in double figures in all but one game for
the Pacers in December.
The Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department
Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each
month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each
month during the 2011-12 athletic year one winner will be chosen
from an in-season sport.
