Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Four different Pacers finished in double figures and the nationally 18th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team picked up its sixth straight victory with a 71-63 non-conference win over Anderson on Monday evening at the Convocation Center.
USC Aiken (7-1) looked as if it would run away with things in the early part of the game, going up by as many as 21 at 29-8 on Anderson (5-4) with 7:32 remaining in the first half.
Anderson would close the first half on a 21-6 run to pull within six at 35-29 at the halftime break.
In the second half, Anderson would get as close as to within two points, but USC Aiken would be able to withstand the Trojan charge and hold on for the eight-point win.
The Pacers finished the game shooting 42.2 percent (27-for-64) as a team. Anderson shot 42.6 percent (23-for-54) as a team.
The USC Aiken defense forced Anderson into 20 turnovers in the game with the Pacers scoring 23 points off the Trojan miscues.
Hannah DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) led the four Pacers in double figures with 11 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds. She also had a block.
Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) ended her evening with 10 points and a career-high five assists for the Pacers. Kayla Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) concluded her night for USC Aiken with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Porsha Martin (Douglasville, Ga./South Paulding) was the final Pacer in double figures, coming off the bench to net 10 points and six rebounds. Five of her six caroms came on the offensive glass.
Lindsay Sundberg (Mansfield, Conn./E.O. Smith) just missed on her first career double-double in the game for USC Aiken with a career-high nine rebounds to go along with eight points. She also did a great deal of her rebounding work on the offensive glass, finishing the game with four offensive rebounds. Sundberg also had a career-high tying two blocks in the Pacer win.
Three Anderson players finished in double figures with Emily Willoughby leading the way with 15 points. She claimed all her points from beyond the arc where she was 5-for-8.
USC Aiken next will play its final league game of the 2011 portion of its schedule against Armstrong Atlantic State at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Convocation Center. The game against the Pirates concludes a season-long four-game homestand for the Pacers.
