Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Behind a career-high 25 points from Kayla Harris the
21st-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's
basketball team rolled to a 92-68 non-conference win over Limestone
on Thursday evening at the Convocation Center.
Harris (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) finished USC Aiken's 24-point
victory shooting 9-for-15 from the floor. She was 7-for-10 from the
charity stripe. Harris also claimed four rebounds and three
assists.
Three Pacers finished Thursday's win in double figures with Hannah
DeGraffinreed and Daniela Tarailo
(Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) also collecting double-figure
scoring outputs.
DeGraffinreed (Raleigh, N.C./Merrimack College) acquired 19
points and six rebounds in the Pacer win. The reigning South
Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department
Student-Athlete of the Week was 8-for-11 from the field in the
Pacer win. She claimed three of her six boards on the offensive
glass.
Tarailo finished her evening with 13 points, four rebounds and
three assists.
USC Aiken (5-1) as a team ended its dominating win shooting 53.8
percent (36-for-65). Limestone (5-2) shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54)
as a team in its loss.
The Pacers hit upon 58.3 percent (7-for-12) of their 3-point
attempts. They were 15-for-18 (83.3 percent) from the free throw
line.
Four Limestone players finished in double figures with Lauren
Pace leading the way with 14 points.
The two teams opened things tight with the game knotted at 11-11
just over five minutes into the first stanza.
From there, USC Aiken would close the first half on a 31-20 run
to take a 42-31 lead into the halftime break.
USC Aiken came out firing in the second half, extending its lead
to as many as 27 points with 9:34 remaining in the game.
The Pacers will now take some time off to focus on exams. USC
Aiken will next open Peach Belt Conference play against Flagler at
1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.
