Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
volleyball team concluded its regular season with a 3-1 (25-10,
17-25, 25-15, 25-15) loss to national No. 15 Armstrong Atlantic
State in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action at the ARC on
Saturday afternoon.
Current NCAA Division II Southeast Region No. 1 Armstrong (33-1,
13-1 PBC) opened the match by easily taking game one, 25-10. The
Pacers would rebound in game two, winning 25-17.
Regionally 10th-ranked USC Aiken (15-15, 7-7 PBC)
would not be able to sustain its momentum from the second set with
the Pirates garnering 25-15 wins in games three and four to take a
3-1 match victory.
USC Aiken concluded the match hitting .062 as a team. Armstrong
hit .333 in the match as a team.
No Pacer was able to claim double-digit kills in the match with
Hannah
Tierney (Winchester, Va./James Wood) leading the way with eight
kills.
Samantha
Lukralle (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) led the Pacers in digs
with 13. Alex
Petock (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) had a team-high 11
assists.
Brendyce Budd was the top performer for the Pirates in their
win, ending her afternoon with a match-high 17 digs. Amanda Jones
finished with 14 kills for the Pirates.
Armstrong's Jessica Santaniello led all in the match with 15
digs.
USC Aiken will next participate in the 2011 Peach Belt
Conference Volleyball Championship at the Christenberry Fieldhouse
in Augusta, Ga. The championship will be contested Friday, Nov.
11-Sunday, Nov. 13.
